The Streamwood Park District invites college students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or a related field to apply to our 12-week (May 20-Aug. 9) Recreation Internship program for a comprehensive learning experience this summer.
Internship Highlights:
Guided Learning: Under the supportive direction of the Superintendent of Recreation Programming and Superintendent of Recreation Services, you’ll explore various dimensions, including recreation programming, athletics, recreation services, special events, summer camp coordination, and facility rentals.
Diverse Exposure: While the primary focus is on the Recreation Department, you’ll also engage with the Marketing, Parks, Human Resources, and Administration departments. This ensures a comprehensive understanding of the Park District’s multifaceted operations.
Collaborative Environment: Work closely with our dedicated Recreation staff, delving into their daily responsibilities and gaining practical insights that extend beyond the conventional internship experience.
Internship Details:
12-week internship (May 20 – August 9)
Primary hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
Qualifications:
College student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or a related field.
Minimum of two years of undergraduate coursework completed.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Self-motivated with a mature, professional, and positive attitude.
Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Valid Illinois driver’s license.
Successful completion of a background check and post-offer drug test.
